Mental health & adolescence – an evening with Prof. Inez Germeys – 19/12
You are invited for a unique evening in the company of Professor Inez Germeys and many other inspiring ladies at the Faculty Cub in Leuven.
Too many adolescents struggle with their mental health. What goes on in their brain? And how can we support them in a better way?
Prof. Inez Germeys (KUL) shares insights from her brand new research at the Fierce Ladies Thursday on December 19th at 7 pm. Join us for great inspiration, top networking in a unique venue, thanks to our host, Nadine Hubert at Faculty Club. Of course there is plenty of time for questions, to network with other Fierce Ladies and to enjoy some drinks & bytes.
About Prof. Inez Germeys
Prof. Germeys uses technology such as smartphone apps and wearable devices to gain insight into the factors that trigger the symptoms and emotions of patients. This really motivates and empowers them to work on their complaints. It is possible to gather more and more subtle information and map the risk factors for each patient. The app can also be used before and after a treatment – medication or a psychological treatment – to assess its effects.”
After an impressive research career at the University of Maastricht, Prof. Germeys returned to Belgium in 2016 with Odysseus start-up funding from the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO), worth almost 3.3 million euro. Together with a number of psychiatrists, she set up the KU Leuven Centre for Contextual Psychiatry.
